P-160 Naval Command Building Addition & Renovation

Scope

Syncon proudly delivered a phased, two-story ground-up addition and comprehensive renovation to an occupied naval command building at Dam Neck in Virginia Beach. This $36.3 million project spanned 34,000 square feet and was completed over 30 months through an open market bid process. Our team expertly managed the construction of a 21,000-square-foot, two-story addition, featuring modern offices, conference rooms, bathrooms, an entry lobby, an RF-protected server room, and a state-of-the-art operations center. Simultaneously, we executed a full gut and renovating an additional 13,000 square feet, transforming the space into mission-critical office environments for essential naval personnel.

Challenge

This high-stakes project demanded seamless coordination with NAVFAC’s construction department and the end user to address significant scope changes, including security enhancements and personnel accommodation, all within an active operational facility.

Solution

The project showcased Syncon’s expertise in integrating complex systems, including advanced mechanical and electrical setups with backup power and fuel tanks, fire protection systems (wet pipe and clean agent), and cutting-edge controls, communications, and electronic safety and security solutions. We also provided complete furniture, fixtures, and equipment (FF&E) packages, along with sophisticated audio-visual (A/V) installations tailored to the Navy’s operational needs.
