This design-build project was performed on an active fire station that had to remain operational and supports the Emergency Crash Response Unit for the NAS Oceana Air Field.
This is a Design-Build Project in support of the Navy Gateway Inns and Suites (NGIS) mission to provide hotel grade accommodations for active duty military personnel. During the design phase, Syncon and our Designer of Record, Waller Todd & Sadler worked in collaboration with the government and client to ensure the requirements of the RFP were properly captured for the end product.

This integrated Design-Build project provided the new kennel facility to support the Naval Special Warfare Group TWO (NSWG2) Multi-Purpose Canine (MPC) Program. The Program supports 16 canines includes both indoor and outdoor stainless steel enclosed kennel areas. The new canine facility is supported by an administrative office area, food prep and storage areas, an exam room and veterinary support. The project included building construction, site improvements and preparations, mechanical and electrical utilities, telecommunications, foundations, an emergency generator, landscaping, fencing, and exterior lighting. Once the new facility was completed, the existing kennel facility was be removed. The Structural Interior Design (SID) elements specified for this project offered extreme durability and maintainability. The building design provided a durable and maintainable facility, with complete coordination between the SID package and the FF&E package. Interior floor finishes consisted of sealed concrete in the Open Office, support spaces and exterior kennels, porcelain tile in restroom spaces, and epoxy in interior kennel areas.
