Project was an addition onto an existing MOB for Sentara and included the renovation of the existing MOB making the entire project 110,000 s.f. Included a helipad for emergency “life flight” helicopter.

Challenge

The challenge for this project was the healthcare safety regulations required to maintain a dust, and an airborne contaminate free construction site during the construction period in accordance with OSHA regulations and all applicable Healthcare construction regulations.

Solution

This was accomplished with dust barriers, negative air machines, hepafilters, walk-off pads, and daily dust free cleaning of all floors in and around sensitive areas such as operating rooms, procedure rooms, patient rooms, equipment storage rooms, and surgical instrument storage rooms. After construction, a thorough Healthcare inspection and certification was performed by the governing Healthcare body, the State Health Department, and a certification was issued.
